Premier Visits Mekedonia Home for Elderly, Mentally Disabled People

Addis Ababa November 04/2018 Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and First Lady Zinash Tayachew today have visited Mekedonia, home for the elderly and mentally disabled people.

After the visit the Premier has called upon all Ethiopians to extend supporting hands to the needy.

Last June, Abiy officially started a volunteer campaign to renew houses of the poor and elders.

Premier Abiy urged senior officials and founder of the center Biniam Belete to continue their benevolent support for elders and disabled people.

On the occasion, Zinash has contributed 15 modern wheelchairs for the needy people in Mekedonia.

Mekedonia is a non-profit organization founded by Biniam Belete in 2011 aiming to alleviate the plight of the destitute elderly and mentally disabled people.

The center focuses on the provision of care for the most helpless and frail elderly people and people with mental illness, as they are vulnerable segment of the society.
