Canada Lauds Reform in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa Novenmber 07/2018 Canada has lauded the ongoing sweeping reform to increase women’s leadership in key government positions in the country.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed received a call from the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on November 5, 2018, according to office of the Prime Minister.

Premier Trudeau shared his support and appreciation for the role that Ethiopia is playing in the region.

The statement revealed that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his interest to visit Ethiopia.

Britain’s Prime Minister Theresa May has also congratulated to Ethiopia’s first female President Sahlework Zewde.

Theresa May said appointment of the first Ethiopian president is a showcase of gender parity for Africa in higher posts.

In Ethiopia many women held key government positions including in presidency, parliament and half of the ministries following ongoing comprehensive reform with the new leadership.
