Addis Ababa December 25/2018 The peace agreement reached between the Oromo Democratic Party (ODP) and Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) to pacify Oromia a month ago has expired without bearing fruit due to the unwillingness of OLF, Mogos Edeo of ODP said.

According to him, a committee was put to task to prepare a joint plan of action that would enable both organizations to maintain peace, fight maladministration, disarm OLF fighters, and sustain peaceful struggle among the parties on 26 November 2018.

The party representative said the two parties have earlier inked an agreement and established a committee comprising of six members drawn from both parties to monitor the implementation of the agreement.

Talking to journalists today, the final day for presenting joint report to the public about the implementation of the agreement, Mogos added that OLF failed to keep its promises and cooperate.

The representatives pointed out that the committee was established based on the suggestion from religious fathers and elders to facilitate a dialogue for constructive engagement by both parties.

OLF representatives reached by ENA said they are unable to respond to queries for the time being.

Mogos also said the government has been giving professional training for around 1,300 OLF disarmed forces.
